This information session aims to provide information about the Family Court's Family Mediation Services.
What is a Family Mediation Service? The Family Mediation Service is a service provided by Family Courts to assist families with mediation around family issues. A trained mediator helps parties with relatively equal bargaining positions to resolve disputes about family issues.
Family Mediation is another way of solving issues around child support, civil matters, and family issues without a lengthy court process. During a Family Mediation process, the 2 parties involved must agree to attend a Family Mediation meeting at Family Court, and may have their lawyers present at the meeting. A mediator from the courts is assigned to oversee the process.
