Suzanne Brunelle

Raised on the land near the Georgian Bay waters, Suzanne traces her roots to her Métis Red River Settlement ancestors; a fille du roi and her husband who arrived on Turtle Island as a Carignan Salières Regiment soldier; and Irish immigrants fleeing the potato famine. She retired from her Federal public service career in 2009, taking on a coordinator role with the Community Ethics Network and Senator responsibilities with the Toronto and York Region Métis Council (TYRMC). She continues to support the TYRMC while assuming the Indigenous Liaison position with the Community Ethics Network. The TYRMC is the local government that represents the interests of the Métis citizens who reside in the Toronto area.
