Declared Interests
Claudia Brabazon - I am a lawyer with the Ministry of the Attorney General in the Government of Ontario. The provincial government has a direct role in collective bargaining process between municipal employees and the city. For example: the province can pass back to work legislation; the province can impose wage restraint legislation; provinces can pass back to work legislation; the province can appoint conciliation officers. Collective bargaining for municipal workers is within the judisdiction of the Ontario Government. These are just a few examples that create the appearance of conflict, and if there is a dispute, would amount to an actual conflict of interest.
