The Nominating Panel - Corporations recommends that:  

1. City Council appoint the following candidates to the CreateTO Board, at pleasure of Council, for a term of office ending June 16, 2027, and until successors are appointed:

Ron Carinci, as Chair

Marcie Zajdeman

2. City Council direct that Confidential Attachment 1 and Confidential Attachment 2 to the report (May 18, 2023) from the City Clerk remain confidential as they relate to personal matters about identifiable individuals being considered for appointment to the CreateTO Board.

Candidates' biographies:

Ron Carinci

Ron Carinci is Chief Operating Officer of the Urbacon Group of Companies which constructs and develops major commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and public sector projects, data centres and critical facilities. He has a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and previously practiced corporate and commercial law for 15 years.

Marcie Zajdeman

Marcie Zajdeman worked for international law firms before joining Hydro One, specializing in real estate and Aboriginal law. Marcie was VP, Legal and Regulatory with Brookfield Infrastructure, part of the senior executive team of Great Lakes Power and Brookfield’s representative on the OEA and APPrO boards. Marcie developed and taught a course on Energy Law for Osgoode Hall Law School. She continues to practice law, representing mostly First Nations. She serves on the Grandbridge Energy Board.

The Nominating Panel - Corporations must select candidates to interview for appointment to the CreateTO Board. Following the interviews, the Nominating Panel - Corporations will recommend two candidates for appointment to City Council.
