The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Prohibited stopping to be in effect at all times, on the north side of Bruyeres Mews, between Ianuzzi Street and a point 15 metres east.

2. Amended the stopping prohibition in effect at all times, on the north side of Bruyeres Mews, between Bathurst Street and a point 15 metres west, to be in effect between Bathurst Street and a point 30.5 metres west.

3. Amended the existing maximum 15-minute parking regulation in effect at all times, on the north side of Bruyeres Mews, between Iannuzzi Street and a point 15 metres west of Bathurst Street, to be in effect between a point 15 metres east of Iannuzzi Street and a point 30.5 metres west of Bathurst Street.

4. Reduced the speed limit from 40 kilometres per hour to 30 kilometres per hour on Bruyeres Mews, between Iannuzzi Street and Bathurst Street.

5. Authorized the installation of traffic calming (two speed humps) on Bruyeres Mews, between Bathurst Street and Grand Magazine Street, generally as shown in Attachment 1 to the letter (June 19, 2026) from the Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik.

My office has been working with local residents, the Fort York Neighbourhood Association, and City staff around road safety improvements on Bruyeres Mews.

Transportation Services staff have already begun working with my office to install crosswalk lines and a  yellow divider line at the intersection of Ianuzzi Street and Bruyeres Mews.

Resident concerns have focused around vehicles parking in a no standing area on the north side near Bathurst Street, causing congestion and driver frustration, including excessive honking and shouting, as vehicles have limited space to pass. This poses visibility concerns for pedestrians and cyclists. Parking adjustments will improve sightlines at crosswalks and mitigate congestion while still providing some street parking for nearby businesses.

Engineering and Construction Services have determined that Bruyeres Mews has not yet been assumed and/or classified by the City. As a result, physical changes to the road in the form of traffic calming measures (i.e., speed humps), cannot be installed on this road immediately.

However, bylawing two speed humps on Bruyeres Mews this time will greatly expedite their installation by the City once the road is assumed.

My recommendations are aimed at allowing for the future installation of speed humps on Bruyeres Mews, and improving sightlines and congestion on this street for Fort York residents.
