Summary

Rochdale Avenue, located between Ennerdale Road and Harvie Avenue, sits at the heart of Caledonia-Fairbank and connects residents to several local shops, schools, parks, and public transit. I have heard from many residents that drivers too often speed down Rochdale Avenue, putting them and their families at risk. I’ve also heard from residents who shared their experiences of near misses resulting from dangerous driving. As this neighbourhood continues to grow and welcome new residents, there is an urgent need for traffic calming measures.

In response to these issues, my office shared a neighbourhood survey requesting feedback on traffic safety improvements. Residents along Rochdale Avenue overwhelmingly supported installing speed humps as a proposed traffic calming measure. The addition of speed humps will help reduce speeding and improve traffic safety.
