The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Designated an on-street accessible parking space to be in effect at all times on the east side of Mavety Street, between a point 30 metres south of Dundas Street West and a point 5.5 metres further south.

2. Rescinded the existing maximum one-hour parking regulation in effect at all times, on both sides of Mavety Street, between Annette Street (west intersection) and Dundas Street West.

A request for an accessible parking space to accommodate a request on Dundas Street West was reviewed by Transportation Services.

Transportation Services seek approval to install a designated on-street accessible parking space on neighbouring Mavety Street instead of Dundas Street West to avoid the parking restrictions on Dundas Street West.

The installation of the proposed on-street accessible parking space will result in the loss of one pay-and-display parking space on Mavety Street. Transportation Services have determined that this change will have minimal impact on local parking demands. This installation will improve accessibility for neighbouring residents with mobility needs by providing a designated accessible parking space.

Transportation Services also detected inconsistences in the traffic by-law related to the current signed parking regulations along the subject section of Mavety Street. When pay-and-display parking was implemented on Mavety Street, the maximum one-hour parking signs were removed and replaced with pay-and-display parking signage. However, the corresponding maximum one-hour parking by-law was not rescinded, resulting in an inconsistency between the traffic by-law and the current signed parking regulations. These inconsistencies will be resolved with Recommendation 2.
