Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Amended the existing one-way northbound designation on Euclid Avenue, between Ulster Street and Bloor Street West, to be in effect between Harbord Street and Bloor Street West.

2. Designated Euclid Avenue, between Ulster Street and Harbord Street, as a one-way for southbound traffic only.

Origin

Summary

Euclid Street is a residential street that runs one-way northbound from Queen Street to north of Bloor Street, three blocks west of Bathurst Street. It is the closest continuous northbound street west of Bathurst Street, and has been overwhelmed with cut through traffic, including chronic illegal use by heavy trucks. The police have not been able to devote enforcement resources to deter illegal truck use of this street, or to breaches of the left turn restrictions at Bloor and at Harbord. Euclid street residents have therefore overwhelmingly requested that the block between Ulster and Harbord become one way southbound.
