The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1.  Authorized all-way compulsory stop control at the intersection of George Street South and Wilton Street.

2.  Rescinded the existing School Bus Loading Zone in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the west side of George Street South, between a point 22 metres south of The Esplanade and a point 22 metres further south.

3.  Designated a School Bus Loading Zone in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the west side of George Street South, between a point 8 metres south of The Esplanade and a point 22 metres further south.

4.  Rescinded the parking prohibition in effect at all times on the west side of George Street South, between The Esplanade and a point 44 metres south.

5.  Prohibited parking at all times on the west side of George Street South, between The Esplanade and a point 8 metres south.

6.  Prohibited stopping at all times on the west side of George Street South, between a point 30 metres south of The Esplanade and a point 14 metres further south.

The David Crombie Park Revitalization project is well underway into the construction phase, promising an improved park that will serve the St. Lawrence neighbourhood for years to come. In the meantime, students at Downtown Alternative School and St. Michael’s Catholic School are having to use Block 3 (between George Street South and Frederick Street) for recess, crossing George Street South at Wilton Street.

I know that many parents and community members have been dedicated advocates for the safety and well‑being of this community. As part of the City’s commitment to Vision Zero Road Safety, I am recommending that Toronto and East York Community Council adopt the following recommendations provided by Transportation Staff to improve pedestrian safety at David Crombie Park.
