The Scarborough Community Council:

1. Designated a 30 km/h speed limit on the following streets:

a. Cleanside Road, between Warden Avenue and Pidgeon Street

b. Fusilier Drive, between Howe Avenue and Cleanside Road

c. Deans Drive, between Warden Avenue and Howe Avenue

d. Ferguson Street, between Howe Avenue and Pidgeon Street

e. Winkler Terrace, between Howe Avenue and Pidgeon Street

f. Yates Avenue, between Howe Avenue and Pidgeon Street

g. Pethick Street, between Howe Avenue and Pidgeon Street

h. Tranter Trail, between Mendelssohn Street and Howe Avenue

i. Roper Road, between Warden Avenue and Mendelssohn Street

j. Mendelssohn Street, between Roper Road and Cleanside Road

k. Ayers Crescent, between Gerigs Street and Cleanside Road

l. Gerigs Street, between Tranter Trail and Cleanside Road

m. Howe Avenue, between Cleanside Road and the south end of Howe Avenue

n. Pidgeon Street, between Pethick Street and Cleanside Road

2. Authorized the amendment of Schedule XLV (Part 1) to City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 950, Traffic and Parking, to remove Cleanside Road, Fusilier Drive, Deans Drive, Ferguson Street, Winkler Terrace, Yates Avenue, Pethick Street, Tranter Trail, Roper Road, Mendelssohn Street, Ayers Crescent, Gerigs Street, Howe Avenue, Pidgeon Street from being excluded from the Designated Area such that this portion of highway will then be included within the corresponding designated area in Column 1 in Schedule XLV (Part 1).

3. Authorized the amendment of Schedule XLV (Part 2) to City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 950, Traffic and Parking to remove Cleanside Road, Fusilier Drive, Deans Drive, Ferguson Street, Winkler Terrace, Yates Avenue, Pethick Street, Tranter Trail, Roper Road, Mendelssohn Street, Ayers Crescent, Gerigs Street, Howe Avenue, Pidgeon Street from being pending roadways such that these roadways are to be designated local roads within the corresponding designated area in Column 1 in Schedule XLV (Part 1).

4. Authorized the amendment of Schedule XLV (Part 2) to City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 950, Traffic and Parking to remove the map titled “Local Road Speed Limit Reduction (Area 3) in Ward 20” showing the area from Warden Avenue to the west, Birchmount Road to the east, Eglinton Avenue East to the north and St. Clair Avenue East to the south and add the map in Attachment 2 to the letter (May 28, 2026) from Councillor Parthi Kandavel.

The listed streets are local residential roads where residents have raised concerns about speeding, road safety, and the need for safer neighbourhood conditions. Through consultation and flyer drops conducted by the Councillor’s office in the surrounding area, residents expressed support for measures that would help reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety.

The proposed 30 km/h speed limit designation is intended to create a calmer and safer street environment for residents, pedestrians, cyclists, children, seniors, and all road users travelling through the neighbourhood. This item recommends reducing the speed limit to 30 km/h on Cleanside Road, Fusilier Drive, Deans Drive, Ferguson Street, Winkler Terrace, Yates Avenue, Pethick Street, Tranter Trail, Roper Road, Mendelssohn Street, Ayers Crescent, and Gerigs Street.
