The Scarborough Community Council:

1. Amended the existing standing prohibition in effect at all times, on the south side of Upton Road, between the east end of Upton Road and a point 82 metres west, to be in effect from the east end of Upton Road and a point 124 metres west.

Local businesses have raised concerns about vehicles stopping along the south side of Upton Road, as it can limit maneuverability and create operational challenges by occasionally obstructing industrial driveways. In this commercial area, on-street stopping can interfere with loading activity, delivery access, and the efficient movement of vehicles, particularly during peak business hours or winter conditions when snow storage further narrows the roadway.

Expanding the existing restriction would help improve overall roadway operations and reduce the potential for vehicle conflicts.

The proposed change is supported by Toronto Police Service Parking Enforcement, who have identified the operational benefits of a clearer curbside area in maintaining safe and orderly traffic movement within the business district, as well as by Enforcement and Street Management, Transportation Services, which has submitted a technical memorandum.
