Various presentations, introductions and announcements were made to City Council on June 24 and 25, 2026.

June 24, 2026

Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, called upon Mayor Chow to deliver remarks in memory of Toronto Police Constable Marc Pinizzotto.

Mayor Chow addressed City Council and gave remarks to honour the life and work of the late Constable Pinizzotto, who died in the line of duty on June 11. Mayor Chow extended condolences on behalf of City Council to Constable Pinizzotto’s family and friends, and to members of the Toronto Police Service, and invited Members of Council to observe a moment of silence.

Councillor Thompson, during the morning session of the meeting, advised Members of Council that the Taste-of-Lawrence street festival was celebrating its twenty-second year, and introduced a brief video promoting this year’s iteration of the festival.

June 25, 2026

Councillor Morley, during the morning session of the meeting, gave remarks about the late Carl Porritt.

Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, called upon Members of Council to commemorate the late former Toronto City Councillor Howard Moscoe.

Mayor Chow, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed His Excellency Andrej Medica, the Ambassador of Slovenia to Canada, who was present in the Council Chamber, and advised Members of Council that June 25 was Slovenia Day.

Speaker Nunziata, during the morning session of the meeting, welcomed former City Councillor Joe Mihevc who was present in the Council Chamber, accompanying the Ambassador of Slovenia.

Councillor Bravo and Mayor Chow, during the afternoon session of the meeting, gave remarks about the late Marcelo Puente, whose family and friends were present in the Council Chamber.

Councillor Shan, during the afternoon session of the meeting made remarks to recognize the thirtieth anniversary of the Scarborough Basketball Association, the fiftieth anniversary of the West Rouge Soccer Club and the nearing fiftieth anniversary of the Scarborough National Malvern Soccer Club.

Councillor Cheng, during the afternoon session of the meeting, advised Members of Council that Willowdale is launching its first ever pigeon-impact photo contest.
