Origin
Summary
My office received the request from staff that the removal of the one-foot reserve at the south end of Salonica Road is required to facilitate an emergency access route into Sunnybrook Park and construction access for the Wilket Creek Bridge replacement project. A gated entrance will be installed to prevent unauthorized vehicular access except during construction.
Residents expressed concerns that the new access road could result in increased vehicular activity within the park if used for other purposes, including routine operations. To address these concerns, while supporting the bridge reconstruction project, this amendment will ensure that, except during authorized construction, the access is restricted to emergency vehicles only and will not be available for routine Parks and Recreation Services operations or general public vehicular access.
I am requesting that North York Community Council approve the following recommendation, prepared in consultation with Transportation Services staff.
