2. Origin
Summary
Seneca Hill Drive is a heavily used community corridor that serves three schools, Crestview Public School, Seneca Hill Public School and Don Valley Middle School, as well as two parks, multiple childcare centres, and surrounding residential neighbourhoods.
Following consultations with school principals and parent council representatives, ongoing concerns have been raised regarding speeding and unsafe driving behaviour along this section of roadway. Given the high number of children, families, and other vulnerable road users who use this corridor on a daily basis, additional measures are needed to improve safety.
Reducing the speed limit to 30 kilometres per hour is an important first step in creating a safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists. Following implementation, a traffic calming study will help determine whether further measures are required to address speeding and improve safety for all road users.
