City Council Decision
City Council on July 29 and 30, 2026, adopted the following:
1. City Council request the General Manager, Transportation Services, in consultation with the Chief Congestion Officer and Executive Director, Strategic Capital Coordination Office, to start developing a curbside management strategy that takes vehicles for hire and autonomous vehicles, and the related City-wide spatial distribution of operational supports, including vehicle staging, storage, charging, servicing and empty vehicle movements, into account, and to include a progress update in a Transportation Services report to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee in 2027.

Speaker Nunziata advised Council that the provisions of Chapter 27, Council Procedures, require that Motion MM43.58 be referred to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee. A two-thirds vote of the Council Members present is required to waive referral.
That City Council amend Recommendation 1 by adding the words "in consultation with the Chief Congestion Officer and Executive Director, Strategic Capital Coordination Office" after the word "Services" and by adding the words "and the related citywide spatial distribution of operational supports, including vehicle staging, storage, charging, servicing and empty vehicle movements" after the word "vehicles"
so that it now reads as follows:
1. City Council request the General Manager, Transportation Services in consultation with the Chief Congestion Officer and Executive Director, Strategic Capital Coordination Office to start developing a curbside management strategy that takes vehicles for hire and autonomous vehicles, and the related citywide spatial distribution of operational supports, including vehicle staging, storage, charging, servicing and empty vehicle movements, into account, and to include a progress update in a Transportation Services report to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee in 2027.
