Item - 2026.HS10.3

The Housing Rights Advisory Committee:

1. Requested Councillor Gord Perks to write a letter to the Chair of the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee suggesting representatives from Nellie's present at the May 4, 2026 meeting of the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee on accessibility concerns in relation to Item HS10.3 - Addressing Barriers to Adequate Housing for Women and Gender-Diverse People.

2. Confirmed its support for the work currently planned by the Executive Director, Housing Secretariat, in their role as Co-Chair of the Housing Pathways for Women and Gender Diverse People Working Group, to explore models of supportive housing programming that support women and gender-diverse people, including survivors of gender-based violence.

Sze Ching Pang and Maya Bras from Nellie’s delivered a presentation on Addressing Barriers to Adequate Housing for Women and Gender-Diverse People.

In response to Item HS9.7, representatives from Nellie’s will present key findings and recommendations from its recent paper, Breaking Barriers: Centering the Voices of Women and Gender-Diverse People in Accessing the Affordable Housing System. The presentation will highlight systemic challenges and propose actionable solutions to improve access to housing within the municipal context.
