The Toronto Francophone Affairs Advisory Committee:

1. Requested the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture to undertake the necessary steps to ensure the re-establishment of the Toronto Francophone Affairs Advisory Committee for the municipal term following the 2026 municipal election.

2. Requested that the City of Toronto maintain an official mechanism enabling the Francophone community to continue contributing to municipal discussions and decisions related to services, programs, and policies that impact Francophones.

As the current Committee’s term approaches its conclusion, we believe it is important to ensure the re-establishment of the Francophone Affairs Advisory Committee following the 2026 municipal election.

The Committee plays an important role in enabling Toronto’s Francophone community to voice its needs, priorities, and recommendations to the municipal administration. While it forms part of a broader network of support mechanisms for the Francophone community, the Committee remains an important forum for dialogue, consultation, and collaboration between the City, Francophone organizations, and the Francophone community.

Maintaining the Committee would also help ensure continuity on ongoing initiatives, strengthen access to French-language services, and support the cultural, community, and economic development of Toronto’s Francophone community.

This motion therefore seeks to request that the City undertake the necessary steps to ensure the renewal of the Francophone Affairs Advisory Committee for the next municipal term.
