Community Council Decision
The Etobicoke York Community Council:
1. Prohibited stopping at all times on the north side of Manitoba Street, from a point 78 metres east of Grand Avenue to a point 12 metres further east.
2. Requested the Director, Enforcement and Street Management, Transportation Services, to investigate the feasibility of installing speed cushions on Manitoba Street between Legion Road North and Grand Avenue.
Origin
Summary
Dear Chair and Members of Etobicoke York Community Council,
Residents have expressed concerns about unsafe road conditions on Manitoba Street, between Grand Avenue and Legion Road, caused by both speeding vehicles coming off the Gardiner Expressway and sightline obstructions caused by vehicles parking along both sides of Manitoba Street. The parked vehicles create challenges for motorists exiting the westerly driveway and cause unsafe pedestrian crossing conditions. To mitigate the sightline concerns, I am recommending expanding the “no stopping” regulations around the westerly driveway. To improve pedestrian safety and slow down traffic, I am recommending the installation of speed cushions on Manitoba Street, between Grand Avenue and Legion Road.
