Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council:
1. Directed the General Manager, Transportation Services to evaluate re-opening Lennox Street to two-way traffic between Markham Street and Palmerston Boulevard, and to report back to the Toronto and East York Community Council in the first quarter of 2026.
Origin
Summary
Lennox Street is currently restricted to one-way eastbound for one short block between Markham Road and Palmerston Boulevard. Markham Street at Lennox is one way northbound, although Markham Street north of Lennox is still closed for construction.
Residents in the area have requested that this portion of Lennox Street be reopened to two-way traffic, to help manage congestion at the Lennox/ Markham intersection and to avoid funnelling unnecessary vehicle traffic through the pedestrian-priority Mirvish Village retail/commercial area intended to occupy both sides of Markham Street between Bloor and Lennox.
