Summary

Earlier this summer, I met with local residents for a neighbourhood walk in the Bloor Street West and Gladstone Avenue area. I heard many concerns regarding speeding and dangerous driving behind a laneway that runs behind several homes and the damage caused by this driver behaviour. Residents described the importance of this laneway for residents, families, and cyclists travelling towards Dufferin station and nearby spots in Bloorcourt Village.

During our walk with residents, City staff observed that large sections of these laneways lacked the necessary number of traffic calming measures. I am recommending the installation of additional speed bumps at these locations to help reduce speeding, discourage cut-through traffic, and improve safety for residents moving through the neighbourhood.
