Summary
At its May 1st, 2025 meeting, Toronto and East York Community Council adopted Item TE22.23 Charles Street West – Commercial Loading Zone and designated a commercial loading zone and a 40 km/h speed limit on Charles Street West.
At its January 8, 2020 meeting, Toronto and East York Community Council adopted Item TE12.37 - Toronto and East York Collector Road Speed Limit Reductions as Part of Vision Zero Speed Management Strategy and reduced the speed limit to 30 km/h on this section of Charles Street West.
This motion seeks to replace the 40 km/h speed limit designation on Charles Street West, between Queen’s Park and Yonge Street that was previously approved at the May 1st 2025 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting and maintaining the 30 km/h speed limit currently by-lawed. I am also formally requesting to waive the Commercial Loading Zone installation and annual fee.
