Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

 

1. Authorized the installation of speed humps on Elgin Avenue, between Bedford Road and Avenue Road.

 

2. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a By-law to alter the roadway for the installation of three speed humps on Elgin Avenue, between Bedford Road and Avenue Road, generally as shown on Attachment 2 to the revised report (June 4, 2025) from the Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services.

 

3. Rescinded the existing parking prohibition in effect at all times on the south side of Elgin Avenue, between Avenue Road and Bedford Road.

 

4. Prohibited standing at all times on the south side of Elgin Avenue, between Avenue Road and Bedford Road.

Summary

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision.

 

Transportation Services is recommending the installation of speed humps on Elgin Avenue, between Bedford Road and Avenue Road.  Staff's assessment indicates the criteria as set out in the updated Traffic Calming Policy has been satisfied.  Therefore, speed humps should be installed on Elgin Avenue.

 

Transportation Services is also recommending enhancing the existing parking prohibition at anytime on the south side of Elgin Avenue, between Bedford Road and Avenue Road, to a no standing at anytime.  This change will further deter parking and maintain unobstructed two-way traffic flow on this street.
