Community Council Decision

The Scarborough Community Council:

 

1. Authorized the installation of speed humps on Brooklawn Avenue, between Barkdene Hills and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection)

 

2. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter the roadway for the installation of five speed humps on Brooklawn Avenue, between Barkdene Hills and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection), generally, as shown on Attachment 2, Drawing TC-546, to the report (September 2, 2025) from the Director, Enforcement and Street Management, Transportation Services.


3. Rescinded the existing speed limit regulation of 40 km/h on Brooklawn Avenue, between Barkdene Hills and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection).

Summary

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision.

 

Transportation Services is recommending the installation of speed humps on Brooklawn Avenue, between Barkdene Hills and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection). Staff's assessment indicates the criteria as set out in the Traffic Calming Policy has been satisfied. Therefore, speed humps should be installed on Brooklawn Avenue.

 

During the course of the investigation, Transportation staff discovered a discrepancy in the speed limit by-law regulation on Brooklawn Avenue, between Barkdene Hills and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection). Recommendation 3 will rectify this inconsistency.
