Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council:
1. Reduced the speed limit on Dufferin Street, between Springhurst Avenue and Queen Street West from 50 kilometres per hour to 40 kilometres per hour.
2. Reduced the speed limit on Dufferin Street, between Springhurst Avenue and the south of end of Dufferin Street from 50 kilometres per hour to 30 kilometres per hour.

Vision Zero 2.0 states that higher vehicle speeds contribute to higher risk of serious injuries and fatalities by reducing driver reaction time, increasing the vehicle stopping distance, and inflicting more severe blunt force trauma on victims upon impact. Speed reduction aims to mitigating risks associated with high speeds.
Transportation staff have reviewed the stretch of Dufferin Street, south of Queen Street West and recommend a speed reduction to mitigate risks.
