City Council Decision

City Council on October 9 and 10, 2024, adopted the following:

  

1. City Council authorize the Executive Director, Corporate Real Estate Management, to enter into an agreement for the continued use of the building municipally known as Carmine Stefano Community Centre (the “Building”) on the sole condition that it includes the continued access to the adjacent sports fields on similar terms to the existing agreement, and with exclusive possession of the Building.

 

2. Should such an agreement in Part 1 above not be possible, City Council direct the General Manager, Parks, Forestry and Recreation to immediately relocate the current programming being delivered at Carmine Stefano Community Centre before the end of the term of the existing lease at Carmine Stefano Community Centre.

That Councillor Anthony Perruzza be permitted to add to the agenda of today's meeting an urgent Motion without Notice concerning:

 

Alternative Space for Recreation Programming at Carmine Stefano Community Centre

 

Reason for Urgency: 

 

This Motion is urgent because the current lease at Carmine Stefano Community Centre is ending on November 30th 2024. Councillor Perruzza would like to provide staff with this direction with enough time in advance of that date to act on the instruction.


1 - Motion to Amend Item moved by Councillor Anthony Perruzza (Carried)

That City Council amend Recommendation 1 by deleting the words "and without exclusive possession of the entire Building" and replacing them with the words "and with exclusive possession of the Building" so that Recommendation 1 now reads as follows:

 

1. City Council authorize the Executive Director, Corporate Real Estate Management, to enter into an agreement for the continued use of the building municipally known as Carmine Stefano Community Centre (the “Building”) on the sole condition that it includes the continued access to the adjacent sports fields on similar terms to the existing agreement, and without with exclusive possession of the entire Building.
