Committee Decision
The Board of Health - Strategic Plan Development Committee recommends that:
1. The Board of Health request the Medical Officer of Health develop a resource for community organizations to facilitate consultation on and participate in the Toronto Public Health Strategic Plan, and to share the resource online, with stakeholders, and with City Councillors, as part of ongoing consultation on developing the Toronto Public Health Strategic Plan.
Origin
Summary
Every day, Toronto Public Health's work to protect and promote population health in our city is supported by community organizations in every neighbourhood.
Community health centres, community service agencies, arts organizations, and more help deliver on the vision of Toronto Public Health to build a healthy city for all. These community partners help deliver on key priorities of Toronto Public Health and are essential to meeting our strategic priorities over the next five years.
It is important that we hear from these vital partners while we develop the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan for Toronto Public Health. We're proposing that a strategic planning resource for community organizations be developed that helps facilitate local conversations and meaningful feedback about what Toronto Public Health's priorities should be over the next four years. This resource will provide information about Toronto Public Health's mandate, consultation questions and information on how to share-back the results.
We hope that this resource will help aid the meaningful consultation which the Committee showed a strong desire for at our first meeting.
