The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Received the report (April 6, 2023) from the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture for information.

The General Manager, Economic Development and Culture, the Film Commissioner and Director, Entertainment Industries and the Program Manager, Music gave a presentation on Night Economy Review: Economic Development and Culture, Municipal Licensing and Standards, and Planning.

On February 23, 2023, TEYCC received a presentation on the Night Economy, which is a shared Divisional initiative among Economic Development and Culture, Municipal Licensing and Standards, and City Planning. The presentation resulted in two motions being moved at Committee that request a report back at the April 12 Toronto East York Community Council meeting:

1. Request the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture to request Vivelab to present their consultation plan on the Night Economy for the Toronto and East York district at the April 12, 2023 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council.

2. Request the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture to engage in thorough and robust consultation with resident, neighbourhood and community association in the Toronto and East York Community Council boundaries, on the Night Economy Plan and provide a update on progress at the April 12, 2023 meeting of the Toronto and East York Community Council.

Accordingly, I am hoping for your support for this recommendation, which will allow for Economic Development staff to provide an update to TEYCC.  Staff have confirmed they are ready to present to the April 12th meeting.
