The Scarborough Community Council:
1. Authorized the installation of traffic control signals at the intersection of Port Union Road and Rozell Road.
Origin
Summary
In response to resident requests for a signalized intersection at Rozell Road and Port Union Road to provide safe and accessible pedestrian and cyclist access to Adams Park, I am requesting that a traffic control signal be installed.
As there is a major access point to Adam's Park located at the west end of Rozell Road. Presently, the nearest existing protected crossings to Rozell Road on Port Union Road, are approximately 440 meters to the north at Island Road and approximately 250 metres to the south at Lawson Road. Such distances have reportedly led pedestrians and cyclists to cross at the currently uncontrolled intersection of Rozell Road and Port Union Road or travel hundreds of metres away to access the nearest protected crossing.
This Traffic Control Signal installation would align with the upcoming Port Union Road Improvement project.
