Summary

From March 7-9, 2023, I was one of the representatives of the City of Toronto at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Board of Directors Meeting in Durham, Ontario. The Board Members were focused on the pre-budget priorities ahead of the 2023 federal budget, which was subsequently announced and tabled on March 28, 2023.

FCM’s pre-budget priorities were defined in a publication titled ‘A Better Life for All Canadians’. This document was published by FCM in the run-up to this board meeting and outlined efficient and cost-effective solutions to the biggest issues currently confronting Canadian communities, namely supporting a resilient, affordable, growing, and secure quality of life.

I attended:

-Durham York Energy Centre Tour

-Federation of Canadian Municipalities Reception

-Federation of Canadian Municipalities Ontario Caucus Dinner

-Committee of the Whole Meeting

-Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board Talks

-The Mayors Welcome Reception and Dinner

-Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors Meeting
