Committee Decision

The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee recommends that the Infrastructure and Environment Committee recommend that:

 

1.  City Council request the General Manager, Transportation Services to work with all constructors working in the transportation right-of-way, to ensure there is clear notification and signage, on which both 311 phone number and the construction zone number are listed, for all residents of Toronto regarding construction projects and the planned accommodations for safe, accessible, and clearly marked pedestrian routes through them.

 

2.  City Council request the General Manager, Transportation Services to report back on related measures to the Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee in the first quarter of 2024.

The Acting Manager, Transportation Services Division gave a presentation on Ensuring Safe and Accessible Pedestrian Routes in Construction Zones.

Summary

A presentation will be provided by Jennifer Niece, Acting Manager, Transportation Services Division on updating the city’s process to ensure safe and accessible routes in construction zones, including what recommendations were generated from stakeholder consultation and engagement.
