Committee Decision
The Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee requested that:
1. The General Manager, Transportation Services consider re-evaluating the definition of disability to be more in alignment with the social model of disability by including such words as "the experience of those interacting with " and include an update of any revised definition in the presentation expected for the September 5, 2023 Toronto Accessibility Advisory Committee.

Summary
Jennifer Niece, Manager, Strategic Policy and Innovation, Transportation Services, will provide a presentation of the findings from a needs assessment conducted by Transportation Services in late 2022/early 2023 regarding accessibility on the City's sidewalks and streets. The assessment included interviews with key stakeholder organizations, an organizational survey and a randomized, representative public survey of Torontonians with disabilities.
