Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council:
1. Authorized the installation of speed bumps in Reverend Porter Lane, between Carlton Street and Wood Street, at the locations shown on Drawing 421G-3987, dated January 2022, from the Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services, Toronto and East York District.
2. Authorized a compulsory stop control for northbound traffic on Reverend Porter Lane at Wood Street.
Origin
Summary
Reverend Porter lane is a one way northbound lane, from Carleton Street to Wood Street.
Pedestrians using the sidewalk along Wood Street are constantly at risk of being hit by a vehicle exiting Reverend Porter Lane due to a lack of safety features for both motorists and pedestrians at the mouth of the lane’s exit on Wood Street.
My office has consulted with Transportation Staff about the feasibility of adding new road safety features. The installation of these mechanisms will improve pedestrian safety along this stretch of Wood Street.
