Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council:
1. Directed Transportation Services to assess the feasibility of the installation of a temporary "No Standing Zone", from 53 ½ Mutual Street to 49 Mutual Street to prevent drivers from parking in this area during ongoing construction and to report back with recommendations to the April 21, 2022 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting.
2. Direct Transportation Services to assess the feasibility of the installation of a “Delivery Zone” on the west side of Mutual Street fronting 78 Mutual Street and to report back to the April 21, 2022 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting with recommendations.
Origin
Summary
During the Toronto and East York Community Council last May 2021, I submitted a motion requesting Transportation Services address missing signage and traffic violations within the Garden District boundaries specifically in the area of Dalhousie Street and Mutual Street, between Dundas Street East and Queen Street East.
Since May 2021, my office has been working closely with area residents and City Staff on the recommendations outlined in my initial motion, including convening a site walk with the City’s Work Zone Coordinator and Toronto Parking Authority. With the concentration of development-related construction in the area, temporary traffic amendments are required to help improve the operations temporarily until construction is completed.
