Community Council Decision
The Toronto and East York Community Council:
1. Amended the existing maximum one hour parking regulation in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the east side of St. Helens Avenue, between Dublin Street and a point 19.3 metres south of Bloor Street West, to be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday, except Sundays and public holidays.
Origin
Summary
In July 2020, I moved a motion (TE16.80) at Toronto East York Community Council to amend parking on St. Helens Avenue between Bloor Street West and Dublin Street and affix it to the east side. This resulted in the addition of 23 new parking spaces
However, recently we have heard from residents in addition to the church community that the one-hour parking regulation from 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, that use to be in effect on the west side of the street has been replaced with an extended one-hour parking regulation on the east side from 8:00am to 6:00pm, daily.
The one-hour regulation has had a negative impact on parishioners as well as visitors to the neighbourhood.
In response to these concerns, I am moving this motion to amend the one-hour parking bylaw on St. Helens Avenue to better meet the needs of the community at-large.
