Community Council Decision

Scarborough Community Council:

 

1. Waived the polling requirement under the City's Traffic Calming Policy and authorized the installation of traffic calming (speed humps) on Dormington Drive, between Ellesmere Road and Pegasus Trail (north intersection). 

 

2. Directed the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter sections of the roadway to install six speed humps on Dormington Drive, between Ellesmere Road and Pegasus Trail (north intersection), for traffic calming purposes, generally as shown on Attachment 2 and Attachment 3, dated June 2022, attached to the report (June 14, 2022) entitled "Traffic Calming - Dormington Drive" from the Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services.

Summary

This staff report is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority from City Council to make a final decision.


Transportation Services has reviewed the need for traffic calming (speed humps) on Dormington Drive, between Ellesmere Road and Pegasus Trail (north intersection). The assessment indicates the warrant criteria as set out in the City of Toronto's Traffic Calming Policy has not been satisfied. Therefore, staff do not recommend the installation of speed humps on Dormington Drive.

Motions

That Scarborough Community Council delete Recommendation 1 and replace with the following:

 

"1. Scarborough Community Council waive the polling requirement under the City's Traffic Calming Policy and authorize the installation of traffic calming (speed humps) on Dormington Drive, between Ellesmere Road and Pegasus Trail (north intersection). 

 

2. Scarborough Community Coucnil direct the City Solicitor to prepare a by-law to alter sections of the roadway to install six speed humps on Dormington Drive, between Ellesmere Road and Pegasus Trail (north intersection), for traffic calming purposes, generally as shown on Attachment 2 and Attachment 3, dated June 2022, attached to the report entitled "Traffic Calming - Dormington Drive" from the Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services."
