The Toronto and East York Community Council directed:

1. The Director, Traffic Management to implement temporary curb extensions at Bloomfield Avenue and Greenwood Avenue and report to the February 16, 2022 meeting of Toronto and East York Community Council on whether it has been completed.

2. The Director, Traffic Management to consider other measures to slow down traffic on Bloomfield Avenue and include consideration of such measures in their report to the February 16, 2022 meeting of  Toronto and East York Community Council.

3. The Director, Traffic Management to include in their report to the February 16, 2022 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting, analysis on the efficacy of the temporary curb extensions as a measure to improve traffic safety and include other potential options that could offer greater safety improvements

Residents of Bloomfield Avenue have been in touch with my office regarding concerns about traffic making dangerous turns from Greenwood Avenue onto Bloomfield Avenue. A petition has been submitted to my office requesting measures to slow down cars as they make the turn onto Bloomfield Avenue.

One block south, at Greenwood Avenue and Sandford Avenue, temporary curb extensions have helped slow down cars making high speed turns and provided some additional protection to pedestrians. With traffic beginning to return to pre-pandemic levels I am asking for your support for this request.
