Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Requested the Senior Manager, Heritage Planning, Urban Design, City Planning, to report to the November 24, 2021 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting with an update on the status of heritage reports for the buildings in the 'Carlaw – Dundas' Study Area.

Origin

(October 14, 2021) Letter from Councillor Paula Fletcher, Ward 14, Toronto - Danforth

Summary

The Gerrard/Carlaw Heritage Plaque District is one of the premier commemorations of industrial history in our city and the city's first such designation. Additionally, the planning framework of the area continues to balance protecting employment with the residential pressures.

One outstanding planning issue in this area is to finally complete the Heritage Evaluations for the existing buildings. I asked for an update on this work in 2019 but with it becoming clearer that the impact of the Ontario Line will be more expansive that originally anticipated, this work has become more urgent. I am asking for your support for this motion.
