Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

 

1. Reduced the speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h on South Drive, between Park Road and Mount Pleasant Road.

 

2. Reduced the speed limit from 50 km/h to 30 km/h on South Drive, between Glen Road and Elm Avenue.

Summary

This item is about a matter that Community Council has delegated authority to make a final decision, provided that it is not amended.

 

South Drive, between Crescent Road and Elm is generally classified as a local roadway, however there are certain sections that have a collector road classification such as between Park Road and Mount Pleasant Road, and Sherbourne Street North and Glen Road. The entire roadway of South Drive operates with two-way traffic. TTC service is provided on South Drive, between Crescent Road to Glen Road by the '82 Rosedale' bus route.

 

After a further review by Transportation Services staff, it was noted that there are inconsistencies with the by-lawed and posted speed limits on specific sections of South Drive. These by-law inconsistencies will be resolved by the adoption of the following recommendations noted below.
