Community Council Recommendations

Scarborough Community Council recommends that:

1. City Council prohibit standing on the west side of Brooklawn Avenue, between Sloley Road and Sunnypoint Crescent (south intersection) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays, from May 1 to September 30 of each year.

Origin

(April 29, 2021) Report from the Acting Director, Traffic Management, Transportation Services

Summary

As the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) operates a transit service on Brooklawn Avenue, City Council approval of this report is required.

Transportation Services is recommending that standing be prohibited on one side of Brooklawn Avenue which is negatively impacted by the overwhelming number of people visiting Bluffers Park and parking on both sides of the road for extended periods during seasonal weekends and public holidays.  The proposed changes will deter parking on one side of the road and allow for improved two-way traffic flow and reduce congestion during Bluffers Parks most busy times on weekends and public holidays from May 1 to September 30.
