City Council Decision

City Council on March 10, 2021, adopted the following:

 

1. City Council amend Highland Creek Community Zoning By-law 10827 for the lands at 1050 Military Trail substantially in accordance with the draft Zoning By-law Amendment attached as Attachment 5 to the report (February 4, 2021) from the Director, Community Planning, Scarborough District.

 

2. City Council authorize the City Solicitor to make such stylistic and technical changes to the draft Zoning By-law Amendment as may be required.

Community Council Recommendations

Scarborough Community Council recommends that:

 

1. City Council amend Highland Creek Community Zoning By-law 10827, as amended, for the lands at 1050 Military Trail substantially in accordance with the draft Zoning By-law Amendment attached as Attachment 5 to the report dated February 4, 2021 from the Director, Community Planning, Scarborough District.

 

2. City Council authorize the City Solicitor to make such stylistic and technical changes to the draft Zoning By-law Amendment as may be required.

Summary

This application proposes to remove a Holding provision (H) to permit the development of an institutional building on the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) campus at 1050 Military Trail, known as the Instructional Centre Phase 2 (IC2).  The proposed building is five storeys (21.8 metres) in height, and contains approximately 14,930 square metres of gross floor area which includes classrooms, lecture halls, offices and some supporting retail use.

 

This report reviews and recommends approval of the application to amend the Zoning By-law.  The applicant has demonstrated through their supporting reports that the conditions for removing the holding provision (H) as set out in the Highland Creek Community Zoning By-law have been satisfactorily addressed.
