That Councillor Wong-Tam be permitted to add to the agenda of today's meeting an urgent Motion without Notice concerning:
Extending Repayment Due Date for Eligible Properties from the 2020 Property Tax Deferral Program- by Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam, seconded by Josh Matlow
Reason for Urgency:
This Motion is urgent because a technical amendment to the Taxation chapter is needed as soon as possible.
That Item MM38.50 be deferred until the February 2 and 3, 2022 meeting of City Council.
Councillor Holyday, on a Point of Order, stated that he would like the Speaker to rule if Member Motion MM38.50 is in order in respect to policies in the City of Toronto Act.
Speaker Nunziata subsequently made the following ruling:
Members, I have been asked to rule on whether Motion MM38.50 is order and whether the proposition is permitted under the City of Toronto Act.
The City Solicitor has advised that this is within Council's jurisdiction, and accordingly, I am ruling the Motion in order.
