The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Requested the Director, Urban Forestry, to report to the January 12, 2021 meeting of Toronto and East York Community Council on the tree at 58 Linnsmore Crescent, and to include in the report, what efforts were made by Toronto Building and Urban Forestry to ensure compliance.

Summary

In early October, it was brought to my attention that a tree had been injured at 58 Linnsmore Crescent. Urban Forestry advised that no tree removal or injury permits had been issued for this property and that an active tree by-law contravention investigation was underway.

A stop work order and a Contravention Inspection for three trees was also issued to the property owner. It is my understanding that no tree protection zone encroachments were ever permitted by Urban Forestry. Urban Forestry has also advised that a stop work order has been issued however, this applied only to the tree protection zone and not the project as a whole.

Local residents are confused and concerned about this tree and want to protect the tree canopy in this neighbourhood. I am asking for your support for a report to help them understand what happened.
