Summary

I am writing to you to request Community Council's support for a motion that is important to the constituents of the Toronto-St. Paul's ward, but one that could not be brought forward by staff due to the impacts of the pandemic on staff redeployments.

My office has received a petition from the residents on the stretch of Markdale Avenue, between Strathearn Road and Cedarvale Park, expressing their desire to have a no parking by-law in place at all times. The residents shared their concerns over the current setup at the location, which allows for up to 3 hours of parking on each side of the street. As this is a gateway into Cedarvale Park, the residents have noted numerous close calls between drivers doing three point turns and pedestrians trying to access the park. City Council has recently approved a sidewalk on the block there, but due to an abundance of caution and the desire of the residents, I am also moving this motion to prohibit parking on both sides of the block in question.
