Community Council Decision

The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1.  Directed the General Manager, Transportation Services to report to the February 5, 2020 meeting of Toronto and East York Community Council on the process and requirements for issuing right of way permits related to the section of the proposed Ontario Line in the Toronto and East York Community Council area.

Origin

(January 7, 2020) Letter from Councillor Paula Fletcher, Ward 14, Toronto-Danforth

Summary

In late December, many residents in Ward 14 noticed preliminary core sampling being done to the proposed route of the Ontario Line. Metrolinx confirmed after construction had started that construction notices had not been mailed out in time to reach residents before the work started.

Transportation have confirmed that Metrolinx did not meet their requirements for notification timeliness or clarity in this instance. This is very concerning as many residents are already concerned about the standard of communication from Metrolinx. The City has rules that are in place to protect residents, but they are not always clear. I am asking you to support this request so residents in Toronto – Danforth and across Toronto and East York can understand the expectations that the City has for Metrolinx in their initial work on the proposed Ontario Line.
