Committee Decision

The Toronto Music Advisory Committee recommends that:

 

1.  The Economic and Community Development Committee request the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and the General Manager, Economic Development and Culture to continue to explore City of Toronto options for supporting an insurance program for live music venues, and to bring forward a report with potential options directly to the Economic and Community Development Committee in March 2021.

Mike Tanner, Music Sector Development Officer, Economic Development and Culture, and Melissa Ferreira, Director, Insurance and Risk Management, Finance and Treasury Services, gave a presentation to the Committee on the Enhanced Support for Music Venues during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Summary

Staff from Economic Development and Culture and Finance and Treasury Services will provide an update on work being done to explore the feasibility of the City of Toronto's role in supporting an insurance program for live music venues. Staff will also provide an update on the property tax reduction program for live music venues.
