Community Council Decision

Etobicoke York Community Council:

Summary

Glenhaven Street is classified in the City's Road Classification System as a local road. This street is located in the residential community east of Keele Street, north of Eglinton Avenue West. The legal speed limit on Glenhaven Street is 50km/h. Sidewalks are present on both sides of Glenhaven Street from Strathnairn Avenue to Lonborough Avenue. A missing section of sidewalk exists on the east side of Glenhaven Street, between Lonborough Avenue and Yore Road. A request has been submitted to Transportation Services to program this missing section of sidewalk for construction.

With the adoption of the Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, the speed limits on local roads will eventually be reduced to 30 km/h, with reports from Transportation Services on this initiative to begin in 2021. In light of the concerns raised with my office regarding the speed of vehicles on Glenhaven Street, I believe it is appropriate to proceed with reducing the speed limit to 30 km/h at this time.
