Community Council Decision

Etobicoke York Community Council:

1.  Reduced the speed limit from 40 km/h to 30 km/h on Wendell Avenue, between Gary Drive and Queenslea Avenue.

Origin

(November 19, 2019) Letter from Councillor Frances Nunziata, Ward 5, York South-Weston

Summary

Wendell Avenue is an 8.5 metre wide roadway classified as a "collector" road. This street has a two-way operation, with sidewalks on both sides of the street. Wendell Avenue, north of Gary Drive, has traffic calming, pinch points and a 30 km/h speed limit. South of Gary Drive, the speed limit on Wendell Avenue is 40 km/h. I have heard from residents of Wendell Avenue, south of Gary Drive, who would like to see the speed limit on this section of the street reduced to 30 km/h.

I believe that it is in the public's interest to reduce the speed limit on this section of the road to make the speed limit consistent with Wendell Avenue, north of Gary Drive.
