TE2.79 - Use of Nathan Phillips Square for Various Events in February 2019

City Council Decision

City Council on January 30 and 31, 2019, adopted the following:

 

1.  City Council grant permission to the Baycrest Foundation to solicit donations in support of its organization.

 

2.  City Council grant permission to the Baycrest Foundation to place objects in the reflecting pool.

 

3.  City Council grant permission to the Baycrest Foundation to engage in sport demonstrations.

 

4.  City Council require the Baycrest Foundation to compensate the City of Toronto, through the Facilities Management Division, for all City of Toronto costs associated with an event above the standard staffing complement. 

  

5. City Council be advised that the Baycrest Foundation event will take place on Nathan Phillips Square on January 31, 2019, not February 10, 2019.

That:

 

1. City Council amend the Toronto and East York Community Council recommendations to remove the Tkaronto O'de Min Kwe Lodge event, as the event has been cancelled, so the recommendations now read as follows:

 

1. City Council grant permission to Baycrest Foundation and Tkaronto O'de Min Kwe Lodge to solicit donations in support of their organizations.

 
2. City Council grant permission to Baycrest Foundation to place objects in the reflecting pool.

 
3. City Council grant permission to Baycrest Foundation and Tkaronto O'de Min Kwe Lodge to engage in sport demonstrations.
 

4. City Council grant permission to Tkaronto O'de Min Kwe Lodge to use open flame as part of their event production.

 

5. City Council require that the Baycrest Foundation compensate the City of Toronto, through the Facilities Management Division, for all City of Toronto costs associated with an event above the standard staffing compliment.

 

2. City Council amend the report to indicate that the Baycrest Foundation event will take place on Nathan Phillips Square on January 31, 2019, not February 10, 2019.
