The Toronto and East York Community Council:

1. Rescinded the existing parking prohibition in effect at all times on the west side of Dan Leckie Way, between Fort York Boulevard and a point 37.5 metres south.

2. Rescinded the existing parking machine regulation in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday for a maximum period of three hours at a rate of $3.00 per hour, between a point 37.5 metres south of Fort York Boulevard and a point 54.5 metres south of Fort York Boulevard.

3. Prohibited stopping at all times on the west side of Dan Leckie Way, between Fort York Boulevard and a point 54.5 metres south.

Dan Leckie Way south of Fort York Boulevard is a collector road accommodating one lane of general traffic in each direction as well as a dedicated left-turning lane at Fort York Boulevard. The west side of the street is signed No Parking from Fort York Boulevard to a point 37.5 metres south, and paid-parking is permitted at times beyond the point 37.5 metres south of Fort York Boulevard.

The curb lane is not wide enough to safely accommodate curbside activities such as loading, drop-off, and parking immediately south of Fort York Boulevard. This concern was identified during the CityPlace Safety Walk that I organized and held on May 14, 2018, with local residents and stakeholders, City staff and Toronto Police. Following consultation with Transportation Services staff, I am recommending changing the traffic and parking regulations in this location to restrict curbside activities, in order to reduce the risk of collisions and injuries.

Curbside activities can be safely accommodated on the rest of this block of Dan Leckie Way, where the curb lane is wider, and can continue to be permitted.
