Community Council Decision

Toronto and East York Community Council directed:

1. Transportation Services to develop an appropriate street redesign to pedestrianize the Chester Hill Lookout and to report back to the April 7, 2020 Toronto and East York Community Council meeting.

Summary

Chester Hill Road is a residential street in East York which dead ends to the west at the Chester Hill Lookout. The street looks like most residential streets in Toronto and East York but, in fact, it is quite unique. The Chester Hill lookout is frequently promoted online as a tourist destination and, as such, residents experience high traffic volumes, frequent littering, loud music, parties, and speeding. I have met with the residents of Chester Hill Road who have expressed that they welcome all visitors to the lookout but want to see safety improvements implemented to ensure the lookout remains enjoyable for visitors and residents alike.
